This cinematic ambient track creates the ideal atmosphere for dystopian visuals, with a touch of mystical and dark pads and tones.
I used bowed instruments, such as violin and cello, complemented by long synth textures. They were blended together to create the prolonged darkness this song is purposed to envisage. A touch of Celtic harp and background vocals come in around the middle section of the track, which ends in a dramatic hit.
I also used ethnic percussion, such as a Japanese taiko and the African m’bira dzavadzimu (meaning the ‘voice of ancestors’ in Zimbabwe).
This version is an alternative arrangement without violin, harp and vocals.
